Lattice Saddle
An Exercise in Computational Design.
Lattice Design
One of the most successful applications of additively manufactured lattice design has been bicycle saddles. The ability to adjust the density and thickness of the lattice enables a company to adjust the stiffness of what is typically a uniform stiffness foam. This opens up the possibility of adjusting the stiffness of the lattice based on a particular cyclist's pressure map.
This Specialized S-WORKS concept imagines a somewhat more minimal application of the elastomer lattice than much of what is currently on the market.
